Riverzedge Arts names Barbosa new ED

PROVIDENCE – In a letter released Monday, Mark B. Cote, chairperson of Riverzedge Arts‘ board of directors, announced the hiring of Karen Barbosa as the Woonsocket-based nonprofit arts organization’s new executive director.

In the letter Cote praised Barbosa, saying: “With more than a decade of experience in youth and program development, coupled with her demonstrated commitment to the organization, we are confident in Barbosa’s ability to provide Riverzedge with remarkable guidance and success.”

Barbosa, who assumed the position on July 10, first joined Riverzedge as director of the expanded learning opportunities program. She most recently held the position of education and youth development director.

According to Cote’s letter, Rebekah Greenwald, the latest executive director, left the position to “pursue new ventures.”
