BRISTOL – Susan McTiernan, dean of the Mario J. Gabelli School of Business at Roger Williams University, was awarded the Women Administrators in Management Education Affinity Group’s Patricia M. Flynn Distinguished Woman in Business Education Award, according to a May 23 release from the university.
The award, which was established in 2016 to recognize female thought leaders who have had a significant impact on women through business education, was awarded to McTiernan by its namesake, Patricia “Pat” Flynn. In doing so, she described McTiernan as a “creative, energetic, fearless and visible leader.”

In her acceptance speech, McTiernan said: “Working to support women in management education has been a critical part of my career, and it has been fulfilling to see the continued increase in the number of women in leadership roles. I appreciate everything that AACSB and WAME have done to advance these efforts and look forward to continuing to partner in the important work on gender and other forms of diversity within management education.”
