Providence, RI – December 14, 2017 – San Miguel School of Providence was named the winner of the RSM US Alliance Stewardship Award which was announced at the 2017 RSM US Alliance Leadership Conference held in Chicago in October. This award was made possible through the support of Batchelor, Frechette, McCrory, Michael, & Co. (BFMM) and Peter Sullivan of Arlen Corporation. As a member of RSM US Alliance, BFMM was recognized for their stewardship efforts and for making a difference in nonprofits in their communities.
This year BFMM is celebrating 30 years in business. In the spirit of giving back to the community they serve, they announced a 30×30 Challenge to perform 30 acts of service this year. Peter Sullivan, a client of BFMM and donor of San Miguel, recommended that the school be considered a beneficiary of one of the acts. This past July, that act was realized when 30 San Miguel Camp students and staff enjoyed a Pawtucket Red Sox game at McCoy Stadium. The kids were treated to hot dogs, ice cream and each student received a baseball. One San Miguel School student wrote, “Thank you for an awesome time at the PawSox game. It was the first baseball game I ever went to.”
San Miguel School is renowned for the strength of its caring community, the dedication of its teachers, and the transformation of students from at-risk urban youth into Miguel Men. “We are grateful for the generous support of RSM US Alliance, BFMM and Mr. Sullivan for their support in helping us to provide high-quality education to our students with the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty,” said John Wolf, executive director of San Miguel School. San Miguel Students experience a safe, effective school community–a place where boys from challenging circumstances find caring adults to guide and support them in making the right choices, and where they are encouraged to achieve and to pursue their dreams.
Ned McCrory, Managing Partner at BFMM said, “Our firm is honored to support the San Miguel School, these exceptional young men, and the faculty and staff who touch their hearts and inspire their minds.”
Dean Sengstock, Partner and National Alliance Leader at RSM US LLP said, “Through the RSM US Foundation, we are thrilled to present $15,000 to BFMM’s recipient of choice, San Miguel School, as the winner of our inaugural RSM US Alliance Stewardship Award. The RSM US Foundation is dedicated to building tomorrow’s middle market leaders and our goal was to recognize the stewardship efforts our RSM US Alliance member firms are making in their communities. BFMM truly showcased what it means to be a good steward to their community and we could not be happier for everyone at BFMM and the San Miguel School of Providence.”
