PROVIDENCE – Boston-based Santander Bank – one of Rhode Island’s largest banks – has named Emily Vaughan Alexanderson to lead its specialized banking group, serving clients in the nonprofit, educational, professional services, and technology and life sciences industries.
“Our focus remains on bringing customized solutions to every client, and I look forward to Emily’s leadership as we deliver our capabilities to help more clients prosper and thrive within these specialized industries,” said David Harnisch, Santander’s head of commercial banking.
Prior to joining Santander, Alexanderson worked for Athenahealth, a provider of network-enabled services for health care and point-of-care mobile apps, where she served as chief of staff to the company’s chief marketing officer, senior manager for strategic planning and operations team, and had experience on the financial planning and analysis team.
In her new job, Alexanderson will report to Patricia Packard, Santander’s director of government and specialized banking.
“I’m excited to oversee the specialized banking group and work with Emily as we continue to strive to meet the needs of more clients,” Packard said.
Santander Bank is the United States subsidiary of Spain-based Banco Santander Group and its primary market is the northeastern U.S.
