SBA and Newport Chamber sign agreement to host business workshops

NEWPORT – The U.S. Small Business Administration and the Newport County Chamber of Commerce have signed a co-sponsorship deal to hold monthly workshops for the business community at the newly opened Innovate Newport space.

The programs will be conducted by the SBA, the Chamber, Rhode Island Small Business Development Center and Rhode Island SCORE. Workshops will cover topics such as insurance, social media and succession planning, among others, according to the SBA.

“This series of workshops over the course of the next two years will provide exposure to experts in a variety of fields related to business development, at no cost to the business.  We know this resource will prove to enhance the broader entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem in the Greater Newport region,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, executive director of the Newport County Chamber of Commerce, in a statement.

The workshops are intended to help educate and empower local businesses by providing resources, business counseling and training.
