PROVIDENCE – Dr. Anne Schwartz, founder and surgeon of Tri-State Equine Surgical Specialists LLC, has been elected as the new president for the Rhode Island Veterinary Medical Association.
The association enhances veterinary medicine through membership involvement and professional development, as well as promotes animal welfare.

Schwartz, a board-certified surgeon of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons who specializes in large animals, is a past president of the New England Veterinary Medical Association, and currently serves on the board of the New England Institute of Technology’s veterinary technicians’ program and the Rhode Island State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
“We have been living through an unpredictable time for nearly a year, and that includes tremendous challenges for pets, their owners and the dedicated professionals who care for them,” Schwartz said in a statement. “I am honored and humbled by the opportunity to lead this organization, help advance its important work and champion the veterinary care our community needs.”
