It’s the largest donation the group has ever made. The group created the Providence Tartan Army fundraising campaign, #fortheweeones, and sold merchandise to raise the money, according to the Daily Record of Glasgow, Scotland.

“It’s just a Scottish thing. Since 2003, every away game we’ll go into – that’s 112 consecutive  we donate money to a children’s charity with no political affiliations in the city or country we’re going to as well,” Providence Tartan Army Organizer Ally Henry told WPRI.

“This large donation will leave a legacy to the Providence community after we have gone,” he said.

Scotland plays two of its World Cup matches at Gillette Stadium. The first match is against Haiti on June 13 and the second is versus Morocco on June 19.

About 10,000 Scottish fans are expected to be in Providence from June 10-21, according to WPRI. The Tartan Army will be traveling from Providence to Gillette Stadium via a fleet of school busses, according to the Daily Record.
