PROVIDENCE – The Social Enterprise Greenhouse will celebrate the graduation of its 2016-17 cohort of Changemaker Fellows at a commencement ceremony on May 3, where each of the nine fellows will present their entrepreneurial endeavors over the past school year.

Selected in October 2016 from colleges and universities across Rhode Island, the nine SEG Changemaker Fellows were tasked with engaging students in entrepreneurship on their campuses and connecting students with resources and opportunities to grow their business ideas.

In addition, Changemaker Fellows each participated in a yearlong internship with participants of the SEG Accelerator, to gain a sense of what entrepreneurs need to succeed, and received a $1,500 stipend for the school year.

The 2016-17 Changemaker Fellows are:

  • Amanda Calderon, a junior at Roger Williams University majoring in marketing with double minors in web development and graphic design.
  • Tiffany Chen, a junior at Brown University studying computer science and economics.
  • Denny Cosmo, a sophomore at Community College of Rhode Island studying business management. He also is seeking an entrepreneurship certificate.
  • Jordan Elster, a sophomore at Salve Regina University majoring in business.
  • Anh Khue Ho, a sophomore at Johnson & Wales University studying sports, entertainment and event management.
  • Leah Kiernan, a senior at Rhode Island College studying public relations and international nongovernmental organization studies.
  • Aimee Kim, a senior at Rhode Island School of Design working toward her bachelor of fine arts degree in graphic design.
  • Nicholas F. Peltier, a senior at the University of Rhode Island pursuing his bachelor’s degree in computer science.
  • Jake Zimmer, a sophomore at Bryant University double-majoring in social entrepreneurship and management.

At the commencement event on May 3, the Changemaker Fellows will present findings about the state of entrepreneurship in higher education and discuss how they engaged with faculty, clubs and courses to foster student entrepreneurship on their respective campuses.
