Hasbro Inc. on Sept. 16 issued a statement acknowledging it is again considering moving its headquarters out of the Ocean State.

The global toy and game giant has been based in Rhode Island for over a century but is now “exploring options for our global headquarters to make sure it is a space that can best serve our employees, partners and business needs for years to come,” said chief communications officer Roberta Thomson. She acknowledged Boston would be the most likely destination if there is a move following a news report that the company has been exploring office space there.

Hasbro in 2018 similarly acknowledged it was considering new locations for its Pawtucket corporate headquarters, including out of state, but stayed put.

State and city leaders have said they were unaware of the company’s renewed interest in moving. They have promised to work with Hasbro on ways to keep it in Rhode Island.
