While the council favors keeping the hub where it is, R.I. Public Transit Authority interim CEO Christopher Durand issued a statement Thursday that suggested riders don’t agree. He said results of a statewide survey and public meetings to gather input from riders on the best location for a new transit center show that a “location near the train station is a leading choice among our riders, positioning it as a true intermodal center.”

He did say RIPTA “will continue to maintain a presence in Kennedy Plaza.”
