TAMPA, Fla. – Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc. last month celebrated the opening of a new office in Tampa, as the insurance company continues to expand its footprint.
Starkweather & Shepley, based in East Providence, is the largest independent insurance agency in Rhode Island. The firm has been expanding its presence in the Florida market in recent years.

The new Tampa office, celebrated during a grand opening on Oct. 24, marks a steadfast commitment to that effort.
“The Tampa area is thriving and remains very attractive to both businesses and their families,” said David Soforenko, president and chief operating officer.
Soforenko became president of the company this year.
Peter Siegel, which the firm describes as an insurance veteran, is the Tampa-area president. He will be responsible for business growth and retention efforts, along with agency and talent acquisition.
“Adding a team of talented individuals to this Florida office will only help to highlight the capabilities our firm brings to commercial and personal-lines clients and prospects,” Soforenko added.
