Sun Country Airlines to add New Orleans and Las Vegas routes from T.F. Green

WARWICK – MN Airlines LLC, doing business as Sun Country Airlines, is adding nonstop flights from T.F. Green Airport to Las Vegas and New Orleans, the R.I. Airport Corp. announced Monday.

The airline’s nonstop flights to Nashville, Tenn., and Minneapolis/St. Paul both began operating Monday as well.

“As we begin service in Providence today, we’re excited to already announce more service to bring residents to these two great vacation destinations,” said Sun Country Chief Commercial Officer Ted Botimer in prepared remarks. “We’ve been very pleased with the response to our entrance into the market and look forward to our continued partnership with the R.I. Airport Corp.”

The flights to Las Vegas and New Orleans will begin in September. The Providence-to-New Orleans route will operate three times per week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The airline will operate flights to Las Vegas five times per week.

Both flights will be seasonal, but the specific seasonality of the routes has yet to be determined. Both flights will fly on a Boeing 737-800 (not the 737 Max 8).

“Sun Country is an airline on the move, and we appreciate that they have included us in their expansion plans,” stated Iftikhar Ahmad, president and CEO of RIAC. “Each new route strengthens Rhode Island’s economy and provides a greater and more economical travel options for Rhode Island.”

Both routes have promotional rates to coincide with the announcement of the new routes.

Currently, a ticket between T.F. Green and Las Vegas is priced between $138 and $156 each way.

Tickets between T.F. Green and New Orleans range between $88.30 and $391.30, according to Sun Country’s website.

“On behalf of the board, we are pleased Sun Country has made this additional commitment to T.F. Green Airport. We would encourage all Rhode Islanders and regional travelers to take advantage of the introductory fares and support these routes,” said Jonathan Savage, chair of RIAC’s board of directors.
