BRISTOL – U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will address the Roger Williams University School of Law Jan. 30, the University announced Thursday.

Ginsburg will participate in a “fireside chat” with Judge Bruce M. Seyla, 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Senior Judge, in the appellate courtroom that bears Seyla’s namesake.

“What Rhode Island can look forward to is a visit from a woman who is both a thought leader in this country – a historic figure in her own right – and someone who every person in this state would be pleased and proud to have as a neighbor,” said Seyla, who also serves as vice chairman of the RWU School of Law board of directors.

Ginsburg’s visit to the school is preceded by eight other visits by U.S. Supreme Court justices both sitting and retired. Justices Anthony M. Kennedy, John G. Roberts Jr., Antonin Scalia, Stephen G. Breyer, Samuel A. Alito Jr., Elena Kagan, and Sandra Day O’Connor have all spoken at the RWU School of Law.
