HUGH CLEMENTS, chief of the Providence Police Department, recently received the Sister Ann Keefe Award from the Nonviolence Institute. The award is given to an individual who supports and fosters nonviolence in the community. The mission of the Providence-based nonprofit is to teach the principles and practices of nonviolence. Clements was appointed to the Providence Police Department on May 5, 1985, as a night patrol officer in the uniform division.
