NORTH KINGSTOWN – Taylor Farms California Inc., a producer of fresh salads and prepared foods, has purchased a 107,000 square-foot center in Quonset Business Park, according to an announcement by park management.
In a statement released this week, Quonset Managing Director Steven King said the Taylor Farms operations will begin in the late spring. It is expected to bring 250 jobs to Rhode Island, he said.
“Taylor Farms will be a welcome addition to the growing number of innovative food companies at Quonset,” he said.
The company, based in Salinas, Calif., signed a ground lease in September 2018 with the R.I. Commerce Corp. for the facility, at 320 Commerce Park Road, North Kingstown, according to the town’s online real estate records.
The 15.1-acre property is the former site of Greencore, according to the lease document.
The company was founded in 1995. In Quonset, it will produce a wide variety of ready-to-eat fresh food products.
