Agueda Del Borgo | Places & Spaces Realty LLC broker owner, Rhode Island Association of Realtors president
Perspective matters. Although real estate is often a competitive field, the National Association of Realtors’ code of ethics requires Realtors cooperate with each other to further clients’ best interest. I have always approached the business and my volunteer roles with a collaborative mindset.
Teamwork has never been more important than during the crisis of the last 20 months. Realtors and staff for the association and local boards were privileged to work throughout the pandemic. It took much coordination by all parties, modifying certain business practices, embracing virtual tools to facilitate meetings, professional development classes for recertification, attending remote conferences and conducting virtual showings, and eventually in-person. Our many affiliate partners: lenders, attorneys, inspectors and others also tweaked operations to collectively help our clients accomplish their housing and investment goals.
Sometimes the best way forward requires revisiting the past and reintroducing old-fashioned values through a contemporary lens:
• Be respectful, grateful, kind and encourage others to succeed.
• Be inclusive, identify and mentor new leaders and professionals, be curious and open to change.
• Genuine collaboration paves the way for positive outcomes.
• Continuous professional development prepares us to be the best versions of ourselves and better serve clients.
We rise by lifting others and honor those who helped us by uplifting the next generations of new voices.
