R. Siisi Adu-Gyamfi has been named senior vice president, international and marketing, at Textron Inc. He previously served as corporate vice president for marketing and as an adviser for worldwide operations on growth and profitability at Eaton Corp. Adu-Gyamfi also has held executive marketing and development positions at Cummins Inc., United Technologies Corp. and Digital Equipment Corp. He has two bachelor’s degrees and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from Harvard University.

PBN: What will your new role be at Textron?
ADU-GYAMFI: I will be responsible for identifying and executing international growth opportunities across the corporation, as well as being accountable for the functional leadership of sales and marketing on a global basis. I also have been named a corporate officer and will serve on Textron’s Transformation Leadership Team, composed of the corporation’s top 21 executives who oversee Textron’s most vital companywide initiatives.

PBN: What do you feel will be most challenging for you as senior vice president?
ADU-GYAMFI: In many ways, the opportunity for Textron is limitless – so, one of the biggest challenges I see is truly harnessing the growth in the right way at the right time.

PBN: What kind of international growth opportunities would you like to see for Textron?
ADU-GYAMFI: With approximately 40,000 people employed by Textron, its subsidiaries and operating divisions in 32 countries, we are strategically positioned to provide integrated product solutions and services to customers worldwide. And several of our business segments, such as Bell, Cessna and Industrial, do derive a significant portion of their revenues from overseas sources. However, there are a number of areas that we have identified within emerging markets, such as China, India, Russia and Brazil, where we see great potential for Textron businesses. For instance, as China continues to look at deregulation of its airspace, this will open up boundless opportunities in aviation.

PBN: It sounds like you’ve traveled all over the world. Do you have a favorite destination?
ADU-GYAMFI: For business, my favorite places to travel are Brazil, China, Czech Republic and South Africa. For pleasure, I have enjoyed Costa Rica, Ghana, India and Monaco. Each of these locations has very friendly people, and the environment/cultures are amazing.
