PROVIDENCE – The Avenue Concept announced Monday the completion of three new murals in Providence.

The murals include one located at 1055 Westminster St. and two separate murals on the Providence National Bank façade in between Westminster and Weybosset streets.

The mural at 1055 Westminster, called “The Revolution Starts in the Earth, with the Self” is the work of Jess X. Snow, a Providence resident and Rhode Island School of Design alumnus. The piece features the profiles of Vanessa Flores-Maldonado, a Providence-based Latinx organizer, and Amira, a New Orleans-based Palestinian organizer. The mural was done in collaboration with Gavriel Cutipa-Zorn, a Brown University alumnus.

The murals on the former Providence National Bank building were executed by AGONZA and M.deangelo. The murals are part of an ongoing revolving mural project in partnership with Paolinio Properties, The Avenue Concept said.

The Weybosset-facing mural, the work of M.deangleo, is called “Somnium” and features a woman lying against a nighttime landscape, spread across five panels. M.deangelo is a Connecticut-based artist.

The Westminster-facing mural, called “Dear Urban Females …” was executed by AGONZA, a Providence native and University of Rhode Island alumna. The mural features four woman in the likeness of the artist, each wearing an earring with a different flag, representing four different countries that make up some of the city’s population. The fifth panel features a raised fist and the Venus symbol.

Both murals at the Providence National Bank façade will remain in place for one year.
