How have you helped boost the quality of or access to health care? The actions of the students, faculty, staff and alumni of the college, particularly during the COVID-19 epidemic, exemplify the commitment of health professionals of many disciplines to the care and prevention of disease amongst the patients we all serve. Examples of the college’s commitment were numerous, lifesaving and significant. Among them were successfully training much-needed health professionals during an epidemic, developing and deploying sanitizer when in short supply and providing crucial COVID drug information and clinical services throughout the pandemic.
What is the biggest challenge you and your organization are facing this year? A tight fiscal climate. We are also busy with our eight-year accreditation study, transitions in college and university leadership, and a rapidly expanding research enterprise.
Tell us one thing that most people don’t know about you. Hubert Humphrey, a pharmacist, former vice president of the U.S. and health care hero, has an honorary doctorate from the college.
