EAST PROVIDENCE – Dr. Thomas Barrett has joined the roster of orthopedic surgeons at University Orthopedics, a regional center for numerous orthopedics specialties and sport medicine.
A reconstructive surgeon who performs first-time and revision replacements of the hip and knee, including partial knee replacements, Barrett also has expertise in treating torn cartilage by performing an arthroscopy of the knee.
Barrett’s background includes advanced training in arthritis diagnosis and treatment, and his writing on orthopedic surgery has appeared in numerous publications and books.
“Over the course of his career, Dr. Barrett has demonstrated a high level of commitment to the orthopedic profession and to Rhode Island patients by participating in the surgical treatment of hundreds of patients in need of care,” said Dr. Edward Akelman, president of University Orthopedics. “His devotion to helping patients return to their regular lifestyles will be an asset to University Orthopedics.”
Barrett, an East Greenwich resident, said he is excited to begin his new position.
