Patients ages six months and older should receive updated flu and COVID-19 vaccines, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ideally vaccines will be done in September or October to restore and boost prevention against virus variants that are currently circulating. Getting a flu and COVID-19 vaccine at the same time is recommended if patients are eligible.

“Preventive vaccinations are the best way to protect yourself and your family from seasonal illnesses,” said Dr. Sree Chaguturu, executive vice president and chief medical officer of CVS Health. “Access to preventive vaccinations is critical to keeping our communities healthy. With thousands of CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic locations across the country, it’s easy to find and get a vaccination.”

Patients can walk-in and request a vaccine or schedule an appointment at CVS.com or the CVS Pharmacy app. The online vaccine scheduler allows people to schedule up to four patients at once and patients can schedule multiple vaccinations in one appointment.

Vaccination appointments are available at CVS Pharmacy, including locations in Target adn Schnucks, as well as MinuteClinic seven days a week. MinuteClinic also offers sick symptoms visits where eligible patients can get tested for flu, COVID-19 and strep throat. Flu and COVID-19 testing is also available at select CVS Pharmacy locations.

CVS Pharmacy and MinuteClinic offer more than 15 common vaccinations including flu, COVID-19, RSV, shingles, hepatitis b and others.

Flu and COVID-19 vaccines are available at no cost with most insurance plans, including Medicare Part B. The CDC’s Bridge Access Program, which provided no-cost COVID-19 vaccine to uninsured and underinsured adults, ended when the new vaccines were approved on August 22, 2024. A patient who does not have insurance will have to pay for the COVID-19 vaccine. Flu shots are also available to those with and without insurance for varying prices, according to CVS spokesperson Tara Burke.
