Upserve appoints Hoskins CEO, Davis to advise board of directors

PROVIDENCE – Sheryl Hoskins has been named CEO at Upserve, the restaurant-management platform company announced last week. Its founder, Angus Davis, is now strategic adviser to the company’s board of directors.

Davis said in a statement Friday that Hoskins has the experience and skill set to “lead the company through its next phase of growth.”

The appointment was effective Sept. 5, the company told PBN Tuesday.

In 2017, the company announced a dual investment and partnership with Vista Equity Partners that Davis said at the time was “far in excess of the total capital invested to date,” and noted that the partnership was akin to entering the “big leagues.” The company said at the time that the partnership would drive growth in the company. The company went on to acquire a inventory-management firm in 2018 – which Upserve announced in August.

A native of Chicago and a U.S. Army veteran, Hoskins has held leadership roles in Fortune-15 companies such as General Electric and McKesson Corp. She has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Illinois Institute of Technology and a marketing MBA from Loyola University in Chicago.

While general manager at ACTIVE Network in Dallas, Hoskins was responsible for several markets, and led the fastest and highest revenue growth division while expanding existing markets. She rose to the level of chief revenue and product officer.

“With approximately 50 percent of restaurants going out of business by Year 5, our mission is to buck this trend,” said Hoskins. “With Upserve’s intent of providing a world-class solution, we are confident that we can enable these restaurants to thrive.”

Earlier this year, the company expanded its commercial executive branch, hiring Chief Marketing Officer Andrea Kayal and Executive Vice President of Sales Kyle Johnson.
