PROVIDENCE – The rebranding of the Providence Biltmore Hotel to the Graduate Providence became public this week with the installation of a new sign above the entryway.

The hotel, sold in October 2017 to Chicago company AJ Capital Partners, will retain the iconic and historic “Biltmore” sign atop its roof, according to a social media post. It is being rebranded as Graduate Providence, part of the company’s Graduate Hotel line.

The aesthetic is modern amenities and crisp, refreshed textiles and decor.

The process is not yet complete.

The website already reflects the new name and aesthetic of the hotel, which is nearing completion on a renovation of its lobby and guest rooms. But the telephone reservation system is still using the Providence Biltmore moniker.

The property, at 11 Dorrance St., was sold for $43.6 million in October 2017. Built in 1922, it has 294 guest rooms, event space and restaurant tenants on the street level.
