NEW BEDFORD – Veterans Inc. – a New England veterans’ nonprofit support organization – has received a $309,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Labor as a part of their Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program, the organization announced Friday.
With funding from the grant, the organization will offer individualized employment location and training services to 168 veterans in Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts.
“We are thrilled to have the U.S. Department of Labor recognize Veterans Inc.’s effectiveness in placing veterans into gainful employment by once again awarding our agency an HVRP grant for Rhode Island and Southern Massachusetts,” said President and CEO of Veterans Inc., Vincent J. Perrone.
The HVRP supports veterans with employment services which include evaluations, individualized career plans, career preparation and check-ups on participants to ensure employment and acclimation to the job market.
“This award will help Veterans Inc. provide valuable job training and placement services to homeless veterans,” said U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA). “This kind of partnership between the federal government and local organizations like Veterans Inc. makes a powerful difference in our communities.”
