Warren Equities names Kaplan as its new CEO

PROVIDENCE – Warren Equities Inc. has promoted former President Herbert Kaplan to chairman of the board; he will continue to serve as CEO. Kaplan replaces his uncle, company founder Warren Alpert, who died last month at 86.
“While the unfortunate passing of Warren Alpert has left a deep void for all of us, we must honor his wishes and continue to grow the business that he founded more than 55 years ago,” Kaplan said.
In other changes, former executive vice president Gus Schiesser has been promoted to president and chief operating officer of Warren Equities, while former vice president Jeffery Walker has been promoted to executive vice president.
Warren Equities is the holding company for Xtra Mart convenience stores, Convenient Graphics, Drake Petroleum Co., Warex Terminals Corp. and Xcel Environmental Inc., which total more than $1 billion in annual sales.
