PROVIDENCE – The Washington Trust Co. will sponsor the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual Summer Pops concert, helping bring the free outdoor performance back to Roger Williams Park on Aug. 5, the bank announced on July 23.
Presented by the city of Providence and the Rhode Island Foundation, the event is expected to draw thousands of attendees for an evening of live orchestral music.

This year’s program, “Outstanding Overtures,” will feature the 69-member Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra performing selections from Broadway, film and classical music under the direction of conductor Troy Quinn.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5, with Aug. 6 designated as the rain date. Admission is free.
Washington Trust Chairman and CEO Edward O. “Ned” Handy III said the bank’s sponsorship reflects its continued support for community arts programming across Rhode Island.
Additional event partners include the Providence Department of Art, Culture and Tourism, the Providence Parks Department, the Roger Williams Park Conservancy and KLR Ltd.
