West Side house tour to focus on artists, live-work spaces

PROVIDENCE – The live-work space of artists will be the focus of the West Broadway Neighborhood Association house tour this year.

Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 6, the tour will feature 12 homes in the Cranston Street Armory area.

The tour is presented in partnership with the Providence Preservation Society.

Now in its fifth year, the home tour includes urban gardens, live-work spaces, and private homes and studios. The tour is self-guided.

Some of the homes are converted from original uses, such as the 1870s firehouse and a former church.

Tickets are $20 in advance and $15 for students, seniors and members of the military. Children under 12 accompanied by an adult are admitted free. House tour booklets are available at the check-in, at 46 Dexter St., and will include historical information about the neighborhood.
