West Valley Inn in receivership

WEST WARWICK – A court spokesman has confirmed that the West Valley Inn has been placed into receivership.

The longtime banquet facility, which closed last month after being in operation since 1978, was placed into receivership on Sept. 13 by Superior Court Associate Justice Brian P. Stern after no buyers came forward.

Frank DiBiase Jr., owner of the Spring House on Block Island and Providence Oyster Bar, recently backed out of buying the 12-acre property, placing it back on the market. It was listed for $1.5 million.

Richard Land has been appointed temporary receiver, according to court spokesman Craig N. Berke. •
