Patrick L. Green, CEO and president of Westerly Hospital, expressed his thanks to both organizations.
“These gifts will help augment the world-class clinical programs at Westerly Hospital and allow us to further upgrade our facility so that it reflects the extraordinary care that is provided to our patients and their families,” Green said.
The Georges, who own a home in Watch Hill, have supported the Westerly Hospital since 1996.
Trustees at the Alfred M. Roberts Jr. Charitable Foundation are also longtime donors.
“The foundation believes in supporting the cutting-edge medical care, the addition and expansion of essential services, and accessibility to all those in need, right here at home,” said Stephen M. Greene, administrator for the Alfred M. Roberts Jr. Charitable Foundation. “We are very happy to be a part of this continuing success story.”
Recent updates to Westerly Hospital include the opening of the Smilow Cancer Hospital Care Center, a program run by Yale New Haven Health, the hospital’s parent company.
Westerly has also opened an 18-bed behavioral health unit for geriatric patients and added more physicians and surgeons in its orthopedic department.
The hospital’s pharmacy has also seen approximately $4 million in recent upgrades courtesy of Yale New Haven Health.
