Two years after first being proposed, the Hope Point tower continuing seeking permission to start work, most recently appearing before the Downtown Design Review Committee seeking approval for its plans. The 46-story tower, to be built on former Interstate 195 land in Providence, has created vocal conversations on both sides of the issue. Some believe that the investment of $300 million to build the tower will be a great shot in the arm of the local economy in addition to being an iconic building that will pull Providence out of its backward-looking evaluation of news projects. Others see an eyesore that will overwhelm the rest of downtown and mar the city’s historically preserved East Side, one of its most valuable attributes. Where do you stand on the issue?
