Women in tech tell stories of bias

PROVIDENCE – Tech Collective will host a panel and roundtable discussion entitled “Women in Tech: Stories of Overcoming Bias” on Jan. 29 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

The event will feature five women discussing how they have worked against bias and tackled workplace obstacles within the technology industry.

Panelists include Zalyndria Crosby, a software developer at Marstone Inc. and instructor at Girl Develop It, both in Providence; Kim Couryner, systems administrator at OSHEAN in North Kingstown; Meghan Martinez, cyber incident response lead at Mass Mutual, with offices in Rhode Island; Lauren Mullaney-Reid, product manager at MojoTech LLC in Providence; and Nell Nanue Paye, business analyst at Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island in Providence.

With moderator Kristina Bacon, quality assurance senior specialist and Women in Tech employee resource group leader at Amgen Inc., which has offices in West Greenwich, the session will include answers to questions voiced by women at a previous Tech Collective event on the subject.
