3,500 Rhode Island Energy customers still without power as high winds move across state

PROVIDNECE – Thousands of Rhode Islanders were still in the dark Friday as high winds swept across the state.  Rhode Island Energy spokesperson Caroline Pretyman said power had been restored to 9,500 customers as of 1:30 p.m., with 3,500 still without service. Wind gusts as high as 39 miles per hour were recorded in Providence.
