PROVIDENCE – “Higher costs for crude oil have made it to the gas pumps, as gasoline prices in Rhode Island jumped across all self- and full-service grades last week,” reversing the previous week’s declines, AAA Southern New England said in its weekly report.
AAA’s Oct. 22 survey found self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline at local stations selling for an average $2.719 per gallon, 4 cents more than a week ago and 53 cents more than the year-ago average of $2.189.
Nationwide this week, the nonprofit auto club found self-serve regular selling for 5 cents more than last week at $2.819, 10 cents per gallon more than in the Ocean State.
Locally, the auto club found a 16-cent range in prices this week for self-serve regular, from $2.659 to $2.819. It found wider ranges for other grades of fuel, which had average self-serve prices of $2.859 for midgrade unleaded, $2.979 for premium unleaded and $3.199 for diesel.
