FREETOWN – A publicly traded company that is developing greenhouse-inspired cultivation, processing and manufacturing facilities for cannabis has received a certificate of occupancy on its first center in New England, the Massachusetts Cannabis Center.
Located in Freetown, the center built by Denver-based AmeriCann Inc. sits on a 52-acre parcel. It includes a 987,000-square-foot structure that will provide space for cannabis cultivation and processing for the medical-marijuana and emerging adult-use markets, according to a news release.
The company has signed a 15-year agreement with Bask Inc., of Fairhaven, which will operate the 30,000-square-foot greenhouse.
Under the agreement, AmeriCann will receive a fee of 15% of gross revenue on all products produced and sold.
Plans for a second facility on the site are under development.
The Massachusetts Cannabis Center’s first building – Building 1 – is scheduled to open in September, according to a news release.
