THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – For the 16th year in a row, pharmaceuticals giant Amgen Inc. is honoring K-to-12 science teachers across the nation, including the territory of Puerto Rico, for showing “an outstanding ability to inspire their students and produce results in science education.”
The award winners, who will be honored in their communities in May, include four Rhode Island educators: Robert Williams Brown of The Wheeler School in Providence, Joel Gluck of the New England Laborers/Cranston Public Schools’ Construction Career Academy in Cranston, Doris E. Lawson of Potter-Burns Elementary School in Pawtucket, and Daniel J. Potts of Chariho Regional Middle School. Angela Cardono Cunard of Seekonk High School also is among the winners.
The award includes an unrestricted grant of $5,000 and a restricted $5,000 cash grant to the recipient’s school to expand or enhance science resources or programs, or for professional development.
