PHILADELPHIA — Amtrak said it plans to add its popular “Quiet Car” — which prohibits cell phone use — to most of its weekday trains, including Acela Express, between Washington, New York and Boston.
According to a statement released by Amtrak, the Quiet Car will be located in the first coach behind the locomotive on most trains, and will be marked with signs on their windows. There is no extra charge for passengers who choose to ride on a Quiet Car.
Three trains along Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor will not have Quiet Cars, Amtrak officials said. Those trains are the Acela Express 2170, which leaves Washington, D.C. at 7:20 a.m., and the Metroliner 121 and 123, which leave New York at 4 and 5 p.m. Weekend trains also will not have Quiet Cars, officials said.
