SWANSEA, Mass. – Three-year-old, tuition-free charter school, Argosy Collegiate Charter School, received a $130,000 leadership grant from BayCoast Bank in support of its $2.3 million Building the Bridge to College capital campaign.
The funds will be used to construct two separate projects on the school’s Fall River campus. The high school will receive $80,000 to build the BayCoast Bank Science, Technology, Engineering and Math, or STEM, Lab and the remaining $50,000 will go toward the construction of a new gymnasium.
In a statement, Kristen Pavao, founder and executive director of Argosy Collegiate, said the school is “honored” to receive the grant from BayCoast.
“Year after year hundreds of scholars will benefit from the BayCoast Bank STEM Lab, a state-of-the-art learning facility that will help prepare them for academic success,” the statement went on to say.
BayCoast’s donation comes as Argosy plan to launch a college preparatory high school program, in addition to the 300 middle school-aged children enrolled in sixth through eight grades.
In addition to the STEM lab and gymnasium, the capital campaign is raising funds for the STEM facility as well as seven technology-based classrooms including robotics, culinary arts and creativity labs.
