BLS: Network, data analysts in demand

BOSTON – Network systems and data communications analysts are in the right job and for those considering a change of profession, it might be a good one to move into, according to the Boston Globe citing statistics from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Among the newspaper’s list of the 30 fastest-growing jobs, the network analysts took the No. 1 spot, with a projected increase of 53.4 percent in 2016.
“This profession will grow because, as businesses implement more and newer technology, more professionals will be needed to monitor efficiency and set up networks,” it said. The median pay of network systems and data communications analyst was $67,460 in 2006.
The projections, made by the BLS every two years, shows that the total number of employed people will increase 10 percent in 2016 from 2006.
Other tech-related professions that will be in high-demand are: computer applications software engineers, at No. 4 with a projected increased of 44.6 percent; computer systems analysts, a No. 23 with a projected 29 percent increase; database administrators, at No. 24 with 28.6 percent; and computer software and systems software engineers, at No. 25 with a 28.2 percent.
