PROVIDENCE – Behavioral health services are now available via Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island’s telehealth platform.
Doctors Online allows Blue Cross members to access a physician at any time using a mobile device or desktop computer.
The service also allows users to schedule appointments with behavioral health providers.
Doctors Online is administered by American Well, and includes each provider’s education and experience, along with ratings from other patients. The platform can be downloaded online or through the Apple or Google app stores.
Designed to give patients with minor ailments such as respiratory infections, allergies, migraines and urinary tract infections round-the-clock access to a physician, the service can also help ease the discomfort of seeking behavioral health help, said Dr. Matt Collins, Blue Cross’ executive vice president and chief medical officer.
“We recognize that many people may be uncomfortable with the prospect of seeing someone they know when visiting a behavioral health provider, despite efforts to destigmatize behavioral health care,” Collins said.
