Martin joins Fielding
Roy E. Martin, III, a resident of Cranston, has joined Fielding Manufacturing as a design engineer. He is responsible for the concept and development of enhanced/optimized designs utilizing Pro/ENGINEER/MECHANICA simulation software. He previously was employed as a mechanical design engineer at ZymeQuest Inc., of Natick, Mass. Martin holds a bachelor’s in science degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he is studying for a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. He is a member of the American Society of mechanical engineers and Tau Beta Pi, the national engineering society.
Fred Baechtold
Baechtold appointed to Cherry
Fred Baechtold has been appointed senior product marketing engineer for Cherry Semiconductor’s computer and industrial business unit. He will be responsible for working with the manufacturer’s communications industry customers and developing high performance distributed power solutions. He will also be responsible for developing broadband/wireless networks for customers such as 3Com, Motorola, Lucent and Nortel. Prior to joining Cherry, Baechtold worked as product manager for American Power Conversion.
The formation of Critical Communications, LLC
Craig M. Bass, president and CEO and specialist in videoconferencing and John E. Wiemann, vice president and computer network specialist have formed a partnership creating Critical Communications, LLC. The Portsmouth-based company provides network and video conference system solutions.
National Guard donates computers to schools
Major General Reginald A. Centracchio, the adjutant general of Rhode Island and commanding general of the Rhode Island National Guard announced today that 65 computers will be donated to Rhode Island schools. Administrators from the Burriville, Central Falls and East Providence School Department will meet Rhode Island National Guard representatives to receive 60 desktop and 5 laptop computers made by IBM and Zenith. The Department of Defense sponsors this donation program. As the military decreases in size, several of the military services will be donating older computer systems to local school systems.
