Cox Communications dedicated a large part of its work force to its local home, Warwick, for a recent “Random Acts of Kindness Day.” More than 100 Cox employees and Mayor Scott Avedisian “set out to remind the community of the power of a good deed,” the company said.
The day kicked off with a 10 a.m. ceremony at Cox headquarters, at 400 Bald Hill Road. From there, employees were deployed throughout the city to perform random acts of kindness. Among other things, the company gave a complimentary Cox bundle of services to the family of a newborn baby born at Kent Hospital, delivered pizzas to Warwick police and firefighters, helped the Boys & Girls Clubs of Warwick write letters to the troops in Iraq, randomly purchased lunch for diners at area restaurants, washed windows, pumped gas and distributed gas cards at gas stations, and passed out water and sunscreen at city parks and beaches.
“We aim to show this community how much we appreciate the businesses and the people,” said Paul Cronin, vice president and region manager, for Cox New England. “Random Acts of Kindness Day is an extension of Cox’s ongoing commitment to make the communities where our employees live and work a better place.” •
