WEST WARWICK – Cox Communications will offer additional NCAA Basketball Tournament games to digital cable customers in Rhode Island, under its recent agreement with LIN TV’s WPRI-TV Channel 12, the companies announced last night.
Starting Thursday, the NCAA Tournament games will air on East Providence-based WPRI-TV and in high definition on Cox Digital channel 701. Additional games will be broadcast simultaneously on Cox Digital channels 801 and 802.
Cox and LIN TV recently signed a long-awaited agreement for retransmission of content from WPRI-TV CBS 12 and WNAC-TV Fox 62, in both analog and HDTV formats. The cable company will carry the CBS channel in analog on Cox channel 12 and in HDTV on Cox Digital channel 701; the Fox station will be carried in analog on Cox channel 11 and HDTV on channel 704.
There is no additional charge for HD programming, but it cannot be viewed without a high-definition television and an HD-enabled receiver or CableCARD.
