Brett Smiley is no stranger to Providence City Hall. In 2015 and 2016, he was chief operating officer for Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. On the campaign trail, Smiley touted his government experience, which also included serving as a top aide for former Gov. Gina M. ­Raimondo from 2016 to 2021. He told Providence Business News
