Dr. N. Joseph Espat has been named chief of surgical oncology and vice chairman of surgery at Roger Williams Medical Center.
He has dedicated his career to complex cancer and benign surgeries of the liver, bile ducts and pancreas, and completed a surgical fellowship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.
Dr. Espat is the only surgeon in Rhode Island who has been head of a major university hepatobiliary unit.
