East Side Providence home sale for $4.5M is city’s highest since 2025

PROVIDENCE – A home on Providence’s East Side recently sold for $4.5 million, the highest residential sale in the city since September 2025, according to Residential Properties Ltd., citing records kept by the Rhode Island Statewide Multiple Listing Service.

The 79 Clarendon Ave. property, designed by architect Prescott O. Clarke and built in 1896, contains 9,535 square feet of living space with six bedrooms and eight bathrooms. The property sits on approximately 0.23 acres, according to public records.

The brick Georgian colonial underwent a top-to-bottom renovation, according to Residential Properties. The home features restored woodwork, Gothic arches, tile floors, a chef’s kitchen with two stone-topped islands and custom cabinetry, and a great room with wood-beamed ceilings and a fireplace. Other features include five-bedroom suites, a media room and guest suite on the third floor, and a lower level with a kitchen, wine room, recreation room, exercise space and mudroom.

The property also includes a private city garden, a fireclay tile patio and an attached garage with electric-vehicle charging stations, according to Residential Properties. The home is located east of Blackstone Boulevard.

The property was most recently assessed at $2.16 million for the 2026 tax year, according to the Providence property assessor’s database. The assessment included $838,500 in land value, $1.32 million in building value and $1,000 in outbuilding value.

Jim DeRentis of Residential Properties represented both the seller and buyer in the transaction.

According to the deed, the property was sold by Lofty Ambitions LLC, and it was purchased by Anthony Buonanno Jr., of Providence.
