Edward Markward, a professor and conductor at Rhode Island College, will retire this spring. Markward has worked for RIC’s music department since 1973, where he has taught music classes, directed the chorus and conducted the symphony orchestra. He is also the founder of the college’s chamber singers group. Markward holds a doctor of musical arts degree from the University of Michigan. •
