BOSTON – Lenders initiated 8 percent fewer foreclosures on Bristol County, Mass. homes in September than the same period last year, The Warren Group said Tuesday.
The real estate tracking firm reported 97 Bristol County foreclosure petitions filed in September compared with 106 in September 2011.
Completed foreclosures declined even more in September, 23 percent year over year, with 51 foreclosure deeds filed last month compared with 66 last September.
Bristol County foreclosure declines followed the rest of the state, where foreclosure starts fell 16 percent and completed foreclosures dropped 32 percent year over year.
“The pace of homes entering the foreclosure process slowed in September, another strong indicator of a housing market recovery,” said The Warren Group CEO Timothy M. Warren Jr. in a news release. “Foreclosure deeds declined for the fourth month in a row. That’s another good sign.”
