PROVIDENCE – Gasoline prices rose 4 cents in Rhode Island and 3 cents in Massachusetts this week, marking the second consecutive week of increases, according to AAA Northeast.
AAA’s May 31 survey of prices in Rhode Island discovered that self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.34 per gallon, 4 cents higher than last week and 1 cent higher than the national average. A year ago at this time, the average price in Rhode Island was 36 cents higher at $2.70.
Prices for regular unleaded range from $2.23 to $2.41, with midgrade unleaded at $2.60; premium unleaded at $2.71; and diesel at $2.39.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline is averaging $2.29 per gallon, 3 cents higher than last week and 4 cents below the national average. A year ago, the average price in Massachusetts was 38 cents higher at $2.67.
Prices range from $2.12 to $2.59 for regular unleaded, with midgrade unleaded at $2.50; premium unleaded at $2.66; and diesel at $2.35.
