PROVIDENCE – The average price of self-serve, regular unleaded gasoline in Rhode Island declined 2 cents this week to $2.40 per gallon, 16 cents higher than the national average and 11 cents lower than this time last year, according to AAA Northeast Monday.
Prices ranged 43 cents, from $2.26 to $2.69 per gallon.
- Migrade gas averaged $2.64 per gallon, ranging from $2.49 to $2.79 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.83 per gallon, ranging from $2.69 to $2.99 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.06 per gallon, ranging from $2.84 to $3.22 per gallon
“The price of crude oil has been slowly increasing this year, but unlike some parts of the country the impact has yet to be felt locally by motorists at the pump,” stated Lloyd Albert, AAA Northeast senior vice president of public and government affairs.
In Massachusetts, the price of gas declined 5 cents to $2.44 per gallon, 20 cents higher than the national average and 7 cents lower than this time last year.
Prices in Massachusetts ranged 86 cents, from $2.19 to $3.05 per gallon.
- Midgrade gas averaged $2.70 per gallon, ranging from $2.31 to $3.09 per gallon
- Premium gas averaged $2.93, ranging from $2.59 to $3.29 per gallon
- Diesel fuel averaged $3.03 per gallon, ranging from $2.79 to $3.29 per gallon
