With an increase of 3 cents per gallon this week, gas prices have increased 14 cents in Rhode Island during the month of March, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s March 21 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.049 per gallon, up 3 cents from last week. In 2004, there were 16 weeks in which the average price locally was more than $2, the latest just after Thanksgiving. The price was $1.769 at this point a year ago, AAA said.
AAA continues to find a wide range of prices among stations selling self serve unleaded gasoline, this week 14 cents from $1.959 to $2.099. AAA urges motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area.
